My name is Claudia Maritza Espinoza and I am a rising senior studying Environmental Engineering at MIT. I was born in Lima, Peru but I have lived most of my life in Hartford, CT. My interest in international development did not really start until the end of my freshman year, in which I had heard all the amazing stories and projects that undergraduates at MIT had accomplished in developing countries, especially through peers in my own department. Currently, my international development interests lay in water quality and education. I also am doing research in alternative methods for the evaluation of organic toxic levels in sediment beds. I hope to be involve in one or more ID project in those fields/research before graduation next year, or in graduate school.
